Günter Grass is deceased

The German writer and literature Nobel prize holder Günter Grass is deceased this Monday 13 April 2015, in a clinic in Lübeck.

His first published novel is also his most renowned: Die Blechtrommel (The Tin Drum), published in 19591G. Grass, 1959. Die Blechtrommel, Hermann Luchterhand Verlag.. The film adapted from it in 19792V. Schlöndorff, 1979. Die Blechtrommel, United Artists. has won the Palme d’or at the International Film Festival of Cannes the same year, and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1980.

Günter Grass is one of the most important writer in the twentieth century. But he also was somehow the bad conscience of Germany. He did often recall its Nazi past, being quite irritating, but helping his country to move forward.
